talk about road warriors. seems like every conversation i’m having with small food companies right now involves our travel schedule to tradeshows. will you be at the unfi tabletop shows? how about kehe? sweets n snacks and fancy food? and don’t forget the gluten free shows – those are national now!
when we started i heart keenwah i will admit, i was skeptical. getting a booth is a real investment, and we couldn’t waste a penny. but i have learned that tradeshows are an invaluable industry tool, even for us little guys. of course, there’s the most tangible result: you sell product. depending on the show, you meet consumers, retail stores, and distributors, all of whom can purchase your product and get excited about your brand.
but there are also the more intangible results from tradeshows. one is brand building: people see your name, try your product, and word starts to spread. the other is community. at every natural/specialty food trade show we meet other small food manufacturers, share our successes and challenges, and help each other. we also meet people that can help us along our journey to build something big: brokers, sales reps, investors. tradeshows help us extricate ourselves from the day to day to connect with a community of like-minded, excited, and experienced individuals.
