so you've got a great idea. you've proven that there's demand, that people will pay for your product. what's next? well, there's a few things you need to do to lay the foundation before you start building. these things may not be "fun," but they're truly necessary. and guess what: you're the entrepreneur so you have to do everything. yes, you're the ceo (sweet!), but you also have to clean the toilets (damn).
1. trademark: if you are building a brand, trademarking your logo is critical. it's your identify as a company, and it's all you'll truly own. you need to protect it.
2. incorporation and shareholder's agreement: you need to incorporate to do anything legit. (and oh yeah, bonus: now you pay taxes). and if you have partners, you need to agree on who owns what. it doesn't matter now, but you don't want to start fighting when you make your first million.
3. accounting: you need a way to write p.o.'s, send invoices, track your revenue and your costs. count those beans baby! otherwise you have have no idea whats really going on in your business. (we highly recommend quickbooks on-line).
these things may seem daunting, but you can figure it out. remember: you're an entrepreneur. you're living your dream and you can do anything.
